How to add your blog's id to the New Post and Design tabs!

One of the very first things you will need to do is to add your unique Blogger id number to the "Design" and "New Post" tabs in the navigation menu. Without adding your Blogger id number you will not be able to access the pages that the "Design" tab and "New Post" tabs are on, well not in a hurry anyway. Don't worry, it is not that difficult at all.

In the video tutorial below I will show you exactly what you need to do to get the "Design" and "New Post" tabs working, so you can use them all the time or whenever you need to use them. At the beginning of the tutorial I will show you what you already know - of what you will see when you click on the "Design" and "New Post" tabs after uploading this template to your blog. Then I will show you what to do, exactly, to display the correct pages for those two log in pages. I will show you exactly where you need to go to find your Blog's id number and exactly where to add the id number into the template itself. This will only take a few minutes of your time to add the right code (your blog's id numbers). If you are not exactly sure, then pause the video and reread what I wrote and compare those words with the page that is being displayed.

Good luck and happy blogging!

How to change the default profile icon to your own image and link

This video below was made this morning and I apologize for it dragging on a bit. Its difficult to think straight after I just woke up. If you watch the video you will see what I do to change the default profile icon to my own image and link. Then you will know exactly how you can do it too.

I might add here that it helps to know the image size for the default profile icon, which is 140px wide by 160px high. The height size can be altered but the width must remain at 140px otherwise the image will either be too big, too small, and it will not center properly.

By cropping a photo of yourself to the exact width and height will give you a great start, if you do that in the beginning. It also helps to use your favourite photo cropping tool/application/programme. I use Picasa a lot to crop photos.

In Part 2 of this tutorial I will show you the end result. I just haven't made the video yet with all the text added.

The making of this template

This is just a simple post to display the potential content of someone's blog when using this template.

There have been many ufo templates that I have thought about making but none quite like this one. I cheated with this one, as this design is not my own, originally but is one that I really, really like. However, turning this design into a two column template is not so easy to do. Creating templates is not easy either because with this template, as with others I've made in the past, not only do I have to make sure the template looks okay but also the page elements section must look alright too.

Currently the page elements section of this template is in a shocking state. I cannot even access the edit link to the "Tabs" section (the current 21 links with the black background) and the blog post area. Both are too far to the right in the page elements section.

As I don't know how to realign them I will have to resort using another template to realign everything, and then re-add all the components to this template afterward. This is all my fault because I have never learnt how to actually make a template from scratch. I think what I need to do is find a standard template which I can totally redesign and add to without it affecting the overall width and look of the template layout.. I seriously need to reinvent the way I make templates and learn to do something better.
